1/6/2024 0 Comments Womens pullover ski coatIf you’re looking for a top-quality hardshell jacket primarily for resort use, this is the best option. The quality of Arc’teryx does come with a high price tag, but you get what you pay for here. We also wish Arc’teryx offered more inclusive sizing we’d love to see these high end shells offered in plus sizing! We like removable powder skirts because not everyone wants the extra bulk inside the jacket making the powder skirt removable adds versatility without adding much bulk or weight. The only other downside to this jacket is that the powder skirt is not removable. Overall, it’s very comfortable, but a couple of other shells we tested had a roomier collar, and we appreciate that design. There’s only one thing we think could be improved with the fit of this jacket: It could use a slightly wider and roomier collar for layering underneath. Plus, the company has a helpful repair program where you can send in gear for repairs (sometimes under warranty, sometimes for a nominal fee) to keep it in use for as long as possible. The Sentinel is Fair Trade Certified for more ethical manufacturing. We also love that Arc’teryx is taking more steps toward sustainable business practices. (The Rush jacket essentially takes the place of the LT version of the Sentinel and leans more towards the backcountry touring side of the spectrum.) For 2023, Arc’teryx has updated the line, and instead of the AR and LT versions, we get just one Sentinel. The Sentinel pant, the matching ski pants for the Sentinel jacket, is also our overall winner in our Best Women’s Ski Pants guide.įirst, here's what has been changed for 2023: In previous iterations of this story, we chose both the Sentinel AR and the Sentinel LT as our best overall shell. The men's Arcteryx Sabre is the men's version and our overall winner in our Best Men's Ski Jackets guide. We tested the updated Sentinel this season, and thanks to Arc’teryx’s tried-and-true durability and thoughtful, meticulous design, it maintains its place as our favorite overall hardshell jacket. The Arc’teryx Sentinel got a refresh this season, but it still holds its place as our best overall hardshell for skiing.
